Hidden mountain temples, historic villages, enduring local culture, and of course the heavenly onsens are just the beginning of what Hakone has to offer for thousands of years. Now joining these wonders is 'Kinnotake', a Neo Japanese or postmodern ryokan that still maintains the gracious hospitality that the Kubosawa's family has been revered for since 1947.
With whom ?
A neo-postmodern nomad
The rooms :
This unique multi-level room perpetuates health and wellness and the desires of 'sky's the limit'. It is for those with a thirst for more than a renewed discovery of relaxation, but rather oneself with our true mother, 'Mother Nature'. Huge space : 108 m2
The restaurant :
The very generous wine selection, and the essence of an expensive hand rolled cigar, center this harmonious atmosphere, enveloping you from the moment that you enter. The low lighting and the furniture designed by Kinnotake's owner will comfort you as you enjoy a classic cocktail or a velvety smooth Scotch or fine Whiskey.
The district :
The area has been the home of countless folklore tales, but none so famous as the folklore Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, "Taketori Monogatari". A 10th century legend about a mysterious girl discovered inside the stalk of a great bamboo plant when she was a baby. She was said to have come from 'Tsuki-no Miyako', "The Capital of the Moon" and had hair that shone like gold.
Indigenous therapies and exotic ingredients combined with modern discoveries fused and overlapped to create spa experiences that blend the very old and the very new, all of which will keep you enthralled, curious, empowered and feeling out of this world.
If 'bigger' does mean better to you then allow Kinnotake to reserve the larger bath for you and your significant other, family or just for yourself when you check in. Once experienced, the warm onsen waters are not easily forgotten, not the bath itself, but the bathing and how it evokes all the senses.
