L’Hôtel Palazzo Barbarigo sur le Grand Canal est un ravissant hôtel de charme qui fait partie du réseau Design Hôtels ; il se situe dans un superbe endroit, juste à côté du célèbre palais Pisani-Moretta, pas loin du Pont du Rialto et à seulement vingt minutes de promenade de la Place Saint-Marc. L’édifice, bâti en 1569, est maintenant un laboratoire du design qui définit les nouveaux standards de l’architecture contemporaine. L’hôtel dispose de 18 chambres donnant sur le Grand Canal ou sur le Rio de San Polo; c’est une destination idéale pour un séjour inoubliable dans le cœur de Venise. Chaque Junior suite donne sur le Grand Canal et est équipée avec connexion internet wifi gratuite, télévision par câble mesurant 42 pouces, coffre-fort et minibar Le design des chambres Luxury, s’inspirant de l’Art Déco, reflète l’âme de Venise, un mélange de styles différents qui coexistent en équilibre depuis toujours. Les chambres spacieuses, les meubles sophistiqués accueillent et surprennent en même temps le client. Palazzo Barbarigo is a truly plush and super-comfy boutique hotel, and one of the best I’ve ever stayed in. It’s gorgeously located right on the Grand Canal, a 10-15 walk from Rialto bridge, and past some of my favourite shops. The closest vaparetto station is San Toma, just 2 minutes away (and around the corner from the best chocolatier in Venice).
The overall decor is dark — if you like light themes, this is not the place for you — with nice accents of bold colors and mirrors. It is very fantastical. The mix of old and new works very well here.
The rooms are modern, chic and romantic. No cheese here (thank God). Very nice… very good for heading back for pre-dinner siestas or lots of frolicking. These are rooms you enjoy being in. The bathroom could be bigger but it’s modern and stylish. The water pressure (important to me) is strong and the water hot. The heating / air conditioning in the room works well. There is also free wifi, which is a huge plus.
The breakfasts are bountiful and really yummy. Huge spread with breads, cheese, fruit, local meats. Good coffee. Brekkie is served on the 2nd floor. What I love about small hotels is that you don’t have to go far to get anything you need. Walk from my room to brekkie was like 10 steps.
The bar is nice too. And the bartender, Marco, not only makes one of the best Rossinis in Venice, he’s also a great guy all around.
The reception / Front Desk staff were all super-nice and accomodating. I had them calling restaurants constantly, changing, cancelling or making reservations for me at restaurants and they did all of it without ever complaining.
It was very amusing when we arrived because the waters were so high, we couldn’t come in through the picture-perfect Grand Canal jetty. Our water taxi had to swing around the side of the hotel and we came in through a bedroom window. Can you believe that?
We booked Barbarigo through boutique-hotel specialists Mr and Mrs Smith and we are so very happy to have found it. I’m definitely staying there with each return visit from now on.
